The façade of the Philharmonie Luxembourg, with its rhythmic structure of 823 slim columns predominates the newly designed Place de l’Europe on the Kirchberg plateau, close to the city centre and to the European institutions. The bold curves of the design by Christian de Portzamparc form an exceptional setting and perfect architectural conditions for musical events, be it symphonic orchestras, solo recitals, jazz concerts or more experimental music. The Grand Auditorium combines the proven acoustics of “shoe-box” concert halls with the qualities of the Shakespearean stage and holds up to 1472 persons. The Salle de Musique de Chambre is bordered by elegantly curved walls which, together with a characteristic sound reflector above the stage, form a unique and intimate room for 313 listeners. The most flexible Espace Découverte welcomes up to 150 people.
