On February 20, 2020, Luxembourg hosted the fourth edition of the GOVSATCOM conference, organised by the satellite operator GovSat with the support of the Luxembourg government and various technology companies.
Around 500 participants attended the event and listened to dozens of experts from government, research, and industry talk about the field’s most exciting developments and pressing concerns. The keynote address was given by Frederik Simoens, of ST Engineering iDirect, who talked about how ‘new space’ will affect government and military operations. Afterwards, Koen Willems gave a presentation about the European protected waveform, which is an ideal match for military and government satcom requirements. The Grand Duchy is the perfect location for the GOVSATCOM conference, explained Luxinnovation CEO Sasha Baillie, who spoke at the event.
‘The space community in Luxembourg has been growing tremendously, especially over the last few years’, - Sasha Baillie
The venue was the European Convention Center Luxembourg, located a short distance from the iconic Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge that spans the picturesque Alzette valley.
