On January 16, 2020, the Learning Centre in Belval hosted a Gender4STEM event which explored how learning institutions can attract more women into the field of STEM – science, technology, engineering, and maths – in which women have traditionally been underrepresented.

The keynote speech was given by Sophie Viger, managing director of 42, a programming school that espouses a collaborative approach and which operates in Paris and Silicon Valley. The event was organised by Gender4STEM, Women in Digital Empowerment (WIDE), the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), and the National Education Training Institute (IFEN).
