- The Luxembourg National Convention Bureau (LCB) is an independent entity dedicated to raising Luxembourg’s profile as a leading destination for Business Events.
- The LCB focuses on the acquisition and facilitation of international conferences and Business Events in the Grand Duchy, representing the national Business Events industry and acting as a one-stop shop for conference organizers. The objective of the LCB is to strengthen Luxembourg’s local economy by increasing knowledge exchange, trade, and investment.
Job Statement:
- Promote Luxembourg as a prime destination for meetings and conventions, in alignment with the Luxembourg Convention Bureau’s short- and long-term sales goals and objectives.
- This role entails professional sales management activities to generate and convert international convention sales leads for the benefit of Luxembourg. The incumbent exercises initiative, independent judgement in the performance of sales tasks and project management in close collaboration with the CEO.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of key economic sectors by identifying, cultivating, and building strong relationships with key decision-makers in the association market to generate leads and secure business for Luxembourg, all in accordance with the Luxembourg Convention Bureau’s strategic direction.
- Educate and promote Luxembourg as a meeting destination to potential clients while developing and maintaining relationships with partners in the Business Events industry and Luxembourg’s economic ecosystem.
- Actively source and generate sales leads for forthcoming international conventions, conferences and congresses (Business Events).
- Assist with the generation and qualification of sales leads for future Business Events.
- Meet sales targets in accordance with Luxembourg Convention Bureau goals and objectives.
- Organize and attend sales activities both domestically and abroad, including promotions, tradeshows, sales missions, familiarization tours, visits to meeting planners, decision makers and PCOs in the assigned markets.
- Collaborate with Business Development staff to secure local host for association bids as necessary.
- Develop and execute bid strategies and activities including:
- Setting up and liaising with bid committees
- Securing local industry and government support
- Producing bid documents and supporting materials
- Liaising with industry to secure facility packages and quotations
- Engage in promotional activities targeted at decision makers
- Conducting site inspections
- Preparing and delivering bid presentations
- Develop and maintain accurate sales records on CRM database system including client contact details, event profiles, follow-up tasks and correspondence. Maintain and keep up to date bid files on CRM system.
- Prepare and deliver handover briefs on secured events for the servicing team, keeping accurate records of commitments made to clients during the bid and sales process. Facilitate introductions between clients and the servicing team during the handover phase.
- Provide assistance and input into the sales and marketing plan, as required by the CEO.
- Monitor sales performance and prepare regular sales activity reports as required.
- Maintain close relationships with key partners and stakeholders in key economic sectors and the business events industry in Luxembourg and abroad, such as Luxembourg for Tourism and Luxinnovation, Luxembourg City Tourist Office, associations, knowledge institutions and corporate networks during the sales process.
- Gather and record market intelligence and competitive information relevant to specific bids.
- Send sales leads to industry partners and coordinate their responses to clients.
- Keep up to date with Luxembourg’s Business Events products and services through industry product presentations, sites, research and meetings.
- Respond to international convention sales enquiries relating to RFPs and bids.
- Support convention bureau activities, and other Business Events related activities, as directed by the CEO.
- Assume any other task as directed by the CEO.
Skills and Competency Requirements:
- University degree in Sales, Marketing, Tourism, Events, Hospitality or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the destination Luxembourg and its economic sectors, products, services and assets.
- Industry expertise in the Business Events sector.
- At least five years experience in a sales management or business development role, preferably within the Business Events / hotel / convention centre industry or related economic sectors.
- Familiarity with the association market would be beneficial.
- High level organisational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written in English, French (Luxembourgish is being considered as an advantage). Computer literacy in all Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Power Point and CRM database experience.
- Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others in the accomplishment of joint tasks and common objectives, contributing to a positive work environment and fostering collaboration.
